Spiritual Strength of Women . A  personal experience

(True experience of a Singhnee who wishes to remain anonymous)

"A short while ago while I was walking home from college, I noticed that some guys were following me in a car. I then realized that they must be the Muslim boys I heard about which were causing trouble in the area. I just ignored them and quickly went through a shortcut where they weren't able to follow me. When I got home I called my friend and told her what had happened.

A couple of days later in school my friend came in with bruises on her face. I ask her what had happened. She told me that those guys that were after her the other day jumped her last night while she was walking home. I felt really angry, but also a little guilty as I felt it was my fault in a way. After that I always walked my friend home and then I would take a different route home.

Then one day while I was walking on the different route home, I saw those guys pull up there car beside me. Somehow they found out my new route home. I kept my calm and carried on walking. Then one of the guys came up from behind and grabbed my arm and said, 'Come on baby, let's go for a ride'.
[This is a teenage girls worst nightmare… when a complete stranger comes and grabs you from behind and tries to drag into their car, only to expect the WORST!]
I saw a Kara on his wrist but I knew it was a Muslim because no Sikh brother would ever molest his sister like that, especially one that wears the Crown of Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Kaur.

When he tried to pull me towards the car I pushed him away and punched him in the stomach. When he fell to the floor I started kicking him. Then another guy came out of the car. When I turned to face him he pulled out a knife. I was just about to go for my Kirpan when I remembered a Hukam from Dashmesh Pita (Guru Gobind Singh);

When all means have failed,
THEN it is right to raise the sword. [Zafarnama - Dasam Granth]

I was thinking of what other means had I to overcome the situation. I then remembered a move from my very first lesson in Martial Arts which I started recently. I did an 'outside crescent kick' (kicking around outwards) and his knife went flying across the street. He was shocked! Then I just showed him my Kirpan (the Gift that Dashmesh Pita, Sarbaans Daani, Kalgian Wale, Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji bestows upon all his sons and daughters when we join the Khalsa Panth).

The guy at first sight of my Kirpan got really scared and quickly picked up his mate and they both jumped in their car and sped away. As I stood there I thanked Kalgian Wale (Guru Gobind Singh) for helping me defeat the enemies.

I never saw or heard about those guys again …."

Dayh Shiva bar mohe ehai, subh karman tay kabhoon na taro.
Na daro ar so jab jaa-e laro, nischai kar apanee jeet karo.
Ar sikh ho aapnay hee man hau, eh lalach hao gun tao ucharo.
Jab aav kee a-odh nidhaan banai, at hee ran mai tab joojh maro. [231] (Guru Gobind Singh)

Give me this boon O' Lord,
that I never refrain from righteous deeds.
That I have no fear when fighting the enemy,
That I attain victory with faith and fortitude,
That I keep your teachings close to my mind.

O' Lord, my desire is that I sing your praises
and when the end of this life draws near,
may I die fighting,
with limitless courage
in the battlefield.
